The Mormon Orchestra of Washington, DC, is a group of some of the finest LDS instrumentalists in the Washington Metro Area. Originating from the Suitland Maryland Stake Orchestra, it has grown to include musicians from Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. The orchestra has performed numerous times at the Washington DC Temple Visitors' Center and at various stake firesides around the area. The members give freely of their time and talents and enjoy opportunities to praise the Lord through music.
On September 11, 2010, members of the Mormon Orchestra of Washington, DC, participated in the 19th Annual Western Family Picnic, hosted at the Marriott Ranch in the hills of Hume, Va. (about 50 miles west of Washington, DC). The event, sponsored by the Office of Public and International Affairs for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is an opportunity for ambassadors posted to Washington and their families to mingle with members of the Church in an informal setting.
